Bara Consulting is excited to report it is supporting MEng Mining Engineering students at Camborne School of Mines with their final year group design project in 2022. The Camborne MEng mine design course is hosted by Dr Matthew Eyre and Dr Herman Aguirre of CSM, and covers comprehensive stages of mine project assessment including geology, geotechnical, mine design, mineral processing, financial, environmental and social aspects as well as an introduction to risk assessment. Bara Consulting has provided synthetic geological and technical data for a model project called “Project Alfie” and acts as “client” to the student group, Molly Gordon James Carr and Tom Burkinshaw, who have formed a small consultancy, JMT Consulting, in order to take on the project.

Says Dr. Andrew Bamber, Bara MD “I really appreciate the students want to get to grips with real project contexts and learn relevant design and engineering skills including financial evaluation at this stage of their studies. I’m very impressed with how maturely the students have approached the project, and their confident approach to the “client” interaction that we provide. I wish them luck on their studies going forward and look forward to seeing the final deliverable.”

Says Dr. Matthew Eyre of CSM, “The group design project is designed to bring together all the aspects of the taught programme into a compressive case study to underpin knowledge. CSM really appreciate the involvement of Bara Consulting on the project, providing technical support and access to data, ensuring relevant industrial focus and value.”
