We are very pleased announce the arrival of Mr. James McFarlane as Principal Consultant to the Bara Consulting team.
Having graduated from the Camborne School of Mines in 2006, James began his career as a Geologist with Galantas Gold at their Cavanacaw Mine in Tyrone, NI before a period in coal mining with Unity Mine Limited. Moving to Australia in 2009, he worked extensively in the gold fields around Kalgoorlie, WA, including for Silver Lake Resources, Alacer Gold and Metals X Limited, and held the role of Chief Geology and Exploration Officer for Irish Resources Exploration Ltd remotely when in Australia and following relocation back to the UK in late 2014. In early 2015 James joined Wolf Minerals, working initially as Geology Superintendent, then Mining Technical Services Manager at their Hemerdon tungsten/tin operation in Devon, UK where he set up, developed and managed the geology and mining services group for the company over 3 years. Then followed a period of consulting with Mining Plus as a Principal Consultant before returning to Hemerdon with Tungsten West as Technical and Operations Director, then as Managing Director, between 2020-2023. James returned to Mining Plus in 2023 as General Manager Manager (EMEA) where he was involved in developing and managing a team of consultants, technical consulting, project management and the delivery of geology, Mineral Resource estimates, mining studies, and operational support projects to clients in Canada, Greenland, Finland, Central Asia, Africa and the UK.
As a Principal Consultant at Bara Consulting, James will integrate with existing geology, mining, processing, infrastructure and ESG teams in Canada, South Africa and the UK. He will be focussing on business development, technical consulting, project management and the delivery of value-adding outcomes to existing as well as new Bara clients. He is passionate about mining, and the UK’s mining heritage in particular, so we are doubly pleased to have secured him as a Principal within the UK team. Welcome James!
